# How does the free usage period work?

Users have access to a X day(s) free usage period for cups and containers. (*The number of free rental days depends on what your university has agreed upon)*

After the free period passes, $1/day late fees apply. The late fee is designed to incentivize return.

Students will receive alerts when they have to return the container.

After 2 weeks, the inventory is deemed “lost” and the user “purchases\*” the inventory.
